Enigin in Australia - A Trip To The Land Of Plenty
Interview by Severine Bloor

Presenting the Eniscope Advanced Meter and the related Display software during the Sustainability Live Exhibition, in Birmingham (UK), earned Enigin PLC an invitation from UK Trade and Investment (UKTI) to send a company representative to Australia.
Enigin did not hesitate in accepting UKTI's offer to join them on their outward mission to Sydney, and 6 months down the line, Tim McMahon - Enigin PLC's Commercial Director - travelled to Australia.
The Eniscope is a smart metering instrument used to measure and monitor energy consumption, identify energy wastage and its sources, and facilitate trend analysis. Eniscope is an essential tool for businesses who wish to significantly reduce their energy usage and costs at the same time. (Request an Eniscope Brochure)
Enigin provide state-of-the-art products that will make all the difference for businesses who find they spend too much on energy bills by unwittingly wasting energy through inefficient appliances.
Tim’s visit, initiated on behalf of a UK government sponsored mission, meant that Enigin could use the opportunity to create awareness about their energy saving solutions across the Australian territory.
Having never met Tim personally I was nevertheless entrusted with the mission to interview him regarding his fruitful trip to Australia, having been told he was a pleasant and helpful man, which he proved to be during the interview.
When asked about the dynamics and potential of the Australian market for Enigin, Tim's response was clear:
"Australia is a great market for Enigin! The national language and the commercial structure being the same as in the UK, this makes it easier to develop business opportunities.”
There are no direct competitors for Enigin in Australia, and the few companies that could provide alternative solutions do not deliver the personalised approach that Enigin can supply, which is much valued by business owners, and which separates Enigin from the rest of the energy efficiency businesses.
After a long flight, that most travellers having been to Australia know and dread, Tim started a very busy week by firstly attending a conference, held on Monday 24th October by the UKTI, grouping together several tax representatives, advisors and various other participating speakers to talk about 'How to grow a business in Australia'.
He was then invited to Sydney's Fox TV Studios to appear on Sky News at 3pm, but was in for a slight surprise:
"What I didn't know was that it was going to be live!" Tim admitted, with a tinge of humour in his voice.
Fortunately, Tim's communication skills were used to the full in promoting Enigin, who were one of only two companies on the UKTI mission to be interviewed by Sky News.
Enigin were also endorsed by ABC – the Australian Broadcasting Corporation - who gave Enigin a 5 minute interview, while other companies were granted much shorter airtime. The angle taken during this interview was on how Australia plans to reduce energy consumption and related costs to generate more profit and consequently more jobs to help the country's economic growth.
In Australia, the cost of energy has recently gone up by a staggering 25% and is due to increase even more next year. Although the credit crunch has had less of an impact down under than in other countries, the soaring energy prices and the ever-rising demand urge Australians to take action and implement energy efficient solutions in their businesses.
Enigin is effectively able to reduce a business' energy expenses by 20-30%, giving business owners the opportunity to retain hard-earned income. Surely an offer no sensible businessman can refuse.
The day continued with a ferry ride across the water to an evening event hosted at the British Consular General's residence, where Mr. McMahon met new potential clients and created links with commercial contacts interested in promoting Enigin in Australasia.
The UKTI themselves have expressed their desire to implement Enigin solutions in their premises. UKTI's own head of communications, Jake Waddell, based in Sydney, informed Tim that the UKTI were thinking of "installing one of (Enigin PLC's) energy measurement products here at the consulate" and that they were "definitely up for looking into it".

The next day, Tim teamed up with a camera crew to interview existing Enigin customers, to get a feel for the market, for the needs and priorities of Australian businesses, and to get to know them on a more personal level.
Enigin take pride in being extremely customer orientated and the personal commitment they deliver to their customers all over the world.
"No matter where the client is in the world, Enigin strive to achieve irreproachable customer service and really take an interest in tending to their specific needs and wants", Tim asserted.
This also applies to all Enigin distributors, who can expect the best standards of support a company can provide to its partners.
Tim made sure to get this message across, and on Wednesday, he was invited to UKTI's offices where a conference was scheduled gathering together Enigin customers from Australia and New Zealand. Experiences were shared and Tim presented the highlight of the event, the launch of the new Eniscope Advanced Meter and Public Display software. You can read more about Eniscope on this page
This promotional session for Enigin was "very well received", according to Tim, and appreciated by all.

On Thursday, he met with potential clients to talk about Enigin's guaranteed energy saving solutions, enabling business owners to avoid losing profits on excessively high energy bills, and protecting the environment.
As the price of energy steadily increases across the globe, the need to become energy efficient is no longer a luxury but an absolute must for businesses. The energy saving products Enigin offer can increase profit margins by reducing maintenance costs related to the use of appliances such as lighting, air conditioning, refrigeration or motors.
At the weekend, Tim travelled up to Brisbane to hold a seminar for potential customers, present the Eniscope, and interview local distributors to assess their productivity. This event proved to be constructive and Tim was pleased with the outcome.
Over all, Tim's visit to Australia was very productive, generating a lot of positive feedback, re-asserting Enigin PLC's leadership in the energy efficiency industry, and promising very exciting opportunities for the future in Australasia and the rest of the world.
