Enigin News - Global Savings of over $155 Billion from Energy Efficient Lighting

SAVINGS of over $155 billion could be made through changing to energy efficient lighting and automated intelligent lighting controls, such is the claim ahead of the Light Middle East expo.

Eduardo Mataix, one of the exhibitors at the claimed: "Using energy efficient lighting in the Middle East and Africa could result in potential savings of $16.88 billion a year, while globally the savings would be $155.45 billion,

"The Middle East and Africa could prevent 88 million tonnes of CO2 emissions a year, or save 198 million barrels of oil a year, with the adoption of energy-efficient lighting systems", he added.
The Light Middle East expo will take place in Dubai at the end of October and the organisers state that intelligent buildings employing automated control systems play a key role in promoting energy-efficient and economical lighting usage.

Ahmed Pauwels, Chief Executive Officer of the expo organisers, the leading trade event for urban, architectural, and theatrical lighting solutions in the region, explained:

"Something many people are unaware of is that buildings are responsible for consuming 40 per cent of total primary energy. There are many ways in which this can be decreased in order to reduce bills and also be kinder to the environment."

Jessica Minton, Senior Show Manager, added: "As the key to energy-efficient operations, building automation systems not only optimise and control the various functions but also increase the well-being of users."

"Also with the easy to use interfaces, automation allows for lower operating costs of electrical and lighting systems," Minton concluded.

Enigin Distributors are armed with Enigin PLC's LESS range of energy efficient lighting solutions, including intelligent lighting sensors that can save substantial amounts of energy with little affect on the working environment. Contact your local Enigin Distributor to find out how you can save energy and money now.

The exhibition takes place at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre from October 31 to November 2, 2010.

Light Middle East, will create awareness about the considerable energy savings and efficiency that could be realised by switching from old lighting technology such as incandescent lamps to power conserving alternatives and also focus on automated intelligent lighting management.
