Enigin News - Energy Saving Scheme at the Right Time for Property Owners

AN expert claims that the UK’s Carbon Reduction Commitment (CRC) Energy Efficiency Scheme is providing property owners with a benchmark enabling them to measure their energy efficiency.
Don Jordison, managing director at property investment firm Threadneedle, stated yesterday that the CRC is providing the property industry a "legislative framework with teeth", where previously there had been little guidance.
Launched in April, the CRC is a mandatory scheme applying to larger private firms and public organisations across the UK.
UK businesses and organisations are required to purchase Carbon allowances calculated on their emissions, with the money made from the scheme being given back to participants who make the bigger reductions in CO2 emission.
Jordinson also stated that for those within the property industry "owners will now be in a position to know how to design, build, refurbish and manage their properties to be as energy efficient as possible".
He also reckons that the Scheme came at just the right time for the UK property industry, as it was feeling the economic pressure, adding that there is a "parallel between the legislative need for lower energy and the need amongst occupiers and owners to get their bills down".
Enigin Distributors in the UK, and elsewhere, can help property owners, businesses and public sector organistaions to save energy and money through the fitting of the correct energy efficiency controls, using real-time energy management to reduce and report emission reductions.
