Enigin News - Energy Saving Needed to Prevent Blackouts in Pakistan

PAKISTAN has been in the news due to the horrendous flooding that the country and its people have suffered. This disaster has pushed into the background Pakistan’s ongoing energy crisis, which can only be exasperated by the floods.
Now the Peshawar Electric Supply Company (PESCO) is carrying 5 to 6 hours scheduled load shedding today, emulating other parts of the country. While in the Swat region, due to Malakand III Power plant being inoperative, a load shedding duration is 7 to 9 hours will come into affect.
The problems are due to distribution transformers burning out, producing occasional severe technical faults across the grid. All these problems will result in power outages.
In order to over come these break downs and to reduce load shedding, PESCO appeal to consumers in their own, and the countries interest, to immediately reduce usage of ACs and illegal use of power.
Industry, businesses, organisations and the general public need to play their part in reducing energy use, keeping all unnecessary equipment and lighting off, where and when they can..
PESCO need to overcome system over loading problems, which result in damaging distribution transformers, tripping power on and off continually and to be able to keep a smooth power supply permanently.
It is hoped that the Malakand – III power plant will be functional soon, which will ease additional load shedding in the Swat valley, but if customers adopt energy conservation measure it will help them in the reduction of their electricity bills and protect future power supplies.
A culture of energy saving is what is needed across the country and the Pakistani government is trying to achieve this through education and technology.
Enigin Distributors in the region can help industry, business and the public sector to be able to automatically manager their energy use, becoming energy efficient, reduce demand for energy and saving money on utility bills.
