Enigin News - Energy Efficient Lighting Growth in BRIC Countries

THE governments of the four BRIC countries (Brazil, Russia, India and China) are implementing plans to phase out energy wasteful lighting and replacing it with energy-efficient lighting products and systems.

A report on the lighting markets in the BRIC countries, ‘Lighting Products Market in the BRIC Countries - Market Opportunities and Entry Strategies, Analyses and Forecasts to 2016’, considers the growth for energy efficient lighting across the different countries.

Here is the summary of the report:

Brazil - The impending 2014 FIFA World Cup and 2016 Olympics Games are expected to create a huge amount of business for the country's hospitality, retail and leisure industries. These factors are expected to contribute to the growth of the energy efficient lighting systems and products market.

Russia - The government has been encouraging energy conservation. The State Duma passed several laws in 2009 to regulate the use of lighting products in order to ensure that the country's overall energy conservation improves. The government has also made it mandatory for all government offices to replace inefficient lighting with energy efficient lighting systems and products.

India - The growing economy is projected to fuel demand for energy efficient lighting systems and products.

China - The country has the largest lighting systems and products market, valued at $13.3 billion last year and is expected an exponential growth in future. The government has announced a three-step process to phase out the use of energy inefficient lighting. The National Development and Reform Commission are developing measures to encourage the promotion of efficient lighting systems and products, based on the Green Lighting Policy of the Ministry of Finance.
