Enigin News - An iPod Or Going Green?

The Burlington Free Press reported on a conference in Vermont where Adam Kustin of the Shelton Group advised against using "Green" when considering energy efficiencies - and most of us would rather hold on to our iPods than have a "greener" environment, by the same token we do not like "waste"!

Kustin told his audience, comprised mostly of builders and energy consultants, that his marketing firm had conducted a survey to see what we were all likely to react to when considering energy use.

Surveys conducted by the Shelton Group showed:

1. Half of Americans are unable to name any energy-saving features available for the construction of offices.

2. Two-thirds (wrongly) believed they were using the same amount of energy -- or less -- than they were five years ago.

3. Two-thirds (wrongly) believed their homes and offices were sufficiently energy efficient.

4. In a hypothetical scenario in which customers were asked to choose between a greener environment and retaining possession of an Apple iPod, about 60 percent opted for the iPod!

The survey also revealed that people prefer to talk about energy efficiency, also sound science by itself will not convince people that efficiency upgrades are warranted, emotional appeals to "avoid waste" are more effective (statistically, anyway), than those for "savings."

If you want to avoid waste and save money, yes you can keep your iPod, become energy efficient by contacting Enigin now.
