Enigin - Council To Reduce Carbon Through Energy Efficiency To Avoid Charges

A staggering £400,000 could be the price that South Tyneside council bosses will have to pay, should they fail to achieve massive carbon emissions cuts.
Energy efficiency can help reduce the amount of carbon emissions while giving businesses the opportunity to save money at the same time. Enigin provide the most advanced energy saving products to give councils the opportunity to curb their emissions and save money, not only on the energy bills but also by enaling them to avoid the financial charges entailed by highly polluting businesses.
2010 will see the carbon trading scheme be introduced, implying that councils will have 12 months to bring down bills before the Government imposes steep financial strikes to the most inefficient, and rewards the best performers.
A league table would ensure that wastful councils get named and shamed, according to the Department of Energy and Climate Change, and that their bills be increased.
With the current pollution levels in North East England, councils would have to pay out more than £5 million between them in the 1st year as a result of everything from inefficient heating systems to running heavy diesel vans. Energy efficiency through companies like Enigin is a key answer to significantly reduce problematic carbon emissions and reap financial benefits.
With Enigin, businesses can drastically cut their energy costs by replacing their inefficient appliances with Enigin PLC's energy saving products for lighting, motors, refrigeration and air conditioning.
Bosses have been advised that paying those bills will have to come before allocating cash for any other services, which will encourage them to switch to energy efficient technology, such as the systems that Enigin offer to business owners worldwide.
With the highest population in the region, Sunderland Council faces trading permits estimated at costing £700,000 while Northumberland Council said it could have to set aside £594,230. North Tyneside also faces a £387,684 bill.
Newcastle Council's most recently available figures show it could have to hand over more than £700,000 to cover the cost of pollution that comes as a result of running a major city authority.
